The Venture Alternative Learning (VAL) Project
The Venture Alternative Learning (VAL) Project works with young people who are disengaged with education or at risk of becoming "NEET" (Not in Education, Employment or Training).
The Project offers a variety of different courses which provide a range of experiences, qualifications, and accreditation in a way that re-engages them with their education, and also to support them to consider what will happen when they leave formal secondary education.
The courses are run by PGCE qualified teachers, playworkers, and youth workers. We also have the use of a variety of equipment and settings, including Wales's largest and oldest adventure playground.
Strong relationships with the young people and their families, as well as with their teachers and school, allow us to employ innovative teaching methods based on mutual respect, the Playwork Principles, and Youth Work in Wales: Principles and Purposes.
