The Venture is proud to be the lead organisation of the North East Wales Meddwl Ymlaen Mind Our Future Project funded by The National Lottery. The Project is co-produced with young people aged 11 - 24 in Wrecsam and Flintshire with a Partnership of statutory and third sector organisations. 

Anticipated to be funded for 5 years, the Project is currently in its first year and working to establish what it hopes to deliver and achieve during the "delivery phase", 2024 - 2028. 

The NEW MY MOF team is led by Project Coordinator, Karlos O'Neill, who is joined by Project Officer Arlo Dennis.

Karlos and Dennis share an office at The Venture and look forward to welcoming people with a "croeso" and a cuppa.

Senior Youth Engagement Officer


£30 - £35,000. a year – Permanent, full-time


Job description


The Venture is seeking an exceptional Youth Engagement Officer to drive the co-production of our National Lottery-funded “Meddwl Ymlaen – Mind Our Future” project, aimed at improving mental health and well-being for young people in Wrexham and Flintshire.


In this pivotal role, you will empower and amplify the voices of 11-24-year-olds, ensuring their perspectives shape every aspect of the project’s development and delivery.


Main Roles & Responsibilities

 

  • Lead and facilitate the Young Leaders Advisory Board (YLAB), fostering their leadership skills, confidence, and decision-making abilities to actively steer the project.

 

  • Grow and strengthen the diversity of the YLAB through inclusive recruitment strategies and a welcoming environment that celebrates diverse perspectives.

 

  • Provide mentoring, coaching, and personal development opportunities to nurture the YLAB members’ resilience, communication, and problem-solving skills.

 

  • Collaborate with the YLAB to design, implement, and evaluate impactful project activities, workshops, and events that align with the project’s goals.

 

  • Ensure meaningful youth involvement in decision-making processes by advocating for the inclusion of YLAB voices and facilitating opportunities to share their lived experiences.

 

  • Identify and support young people into paid roles within the project, providing mentorship, training, and skill-building opportunities for their personal and professional growth.

 

  • Serve as the designated Safeguarding Lead, implementing robust policies, providing training, and ensuring compliance with child protection best practices in Wales.

 

  • With your exceptional communication skills, passion for youth empowerment, and commitment to co-production, you will play a crucial role in shaping mental health services that truly meet the needs of young people and young adults aged 11 to 24 today and in the future.
